What is Trichology and who is it for?

Trichology is the study of hair and scalp disorders. It is common for many people to suffer from some form of scalp complaint in their lifetime, and there are many reasons why these symptoms occur.

Allow me to welcome you to The Healthy Hair Clinic, a Trichology practice registered with both the Institute of Trichologists (IoT) and the International Association of Trichologists (IAT).

Trichology is for everyone - from young to old. The purpose of my clinic is to identify, advise and treat conditions in 3 key areas: hair loss, scalp health and hair improvement.

The cause of hair and scalp disorders

Hair conditions are usually a sign that the body is out of balance, but it doesn't mean you have to live with it.

Hair loss can happen as a result of physical trauma, isolated infection or autoimmune conditions such as alopecia areata. Thinning hair is often a result of stress, illness or weight loss and can be affected by underlying causes such as a thyroid imbalance, anaemia,  postpartum loss (after pregnancy) or androgenic alopecia (to name a few).

Whatever your age, let me help you to explore the reasons for the thinning or loss and work with you to resolve them.

Trichology treatments

Treatments cover three areas, and each treatment is customised to cater to your individual needs, ensuring a holistic approach to your hair care and treatment plan.

About Tracy Keen

I graduated as a Member of the Institute of Trichologists in 2008, after completing my 4 year studies in clinical trichology.

As a hairdresser with more than 30 years of experience, I’d seen so many clients trying to mask their thinning hair and scalp problems by changing their hair style or hair colour.

Hair health is a barometer of your body health, and I wanted to identify the reason behind the problems that were occurring with my clients, so that I could help to prevent and cure these conditions.

Since opening my clinic in 2008, I’ve successfully treated over 2000 clients - men, women and children of all ages, across Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, so when you’re working with me, you’re benefitting from over 30 years of experience in the hair industry and almost 20 years of experience in Trichology alone.

Male. 53. Banbury

Tracy was a true professional right from my first consultation. It took a lot of time for me to pluck up the courage to make that appointment. I just wish I'd done it years ago! I'm finally pain free and have stopped feeling so self conscious.

Female. 47. Oxford

I'd spent a long time using off-the-shelf products for my scalp condition. Then I discovered Tracy's clinic. When you're in that much discomfort, to say the treatment has been life changing in not an understatment!

Female. 42. Cheltenham

Thank you so much for helping me to understand my hair loss. I feel much more in control now and so much happier. I am so pleased I made that first appointment.
